New Banner/Seasonal Depression/Sandboxes

DF’s new, disturbing banner brought to you by Joe and his maniacal blue-lipped offspring.

In other news, I am relaxifying in my pajama pants today, staving off seasonal depression and enjoying a nice half gallon of Turkey Hill’s Diet Iced Tea.

I know I probably should post this over at Humpy Boggart in light of its RPG-related nature, but I have really been enjoying this series of articles at Ars Ludi on a particularly successful sandbox-style D&D campaign. Pretty sweet.

Something about the way the terrain looks in New York State before the onset of winter has triggered all kinds of bittersweet memories to come flooding back in an aneurism of pure nostalgia. I might have to break out some old U2 albums today, maybe even drive up to Oxford to climb around the sandpit until Simon’s crotchety neighbor comes outside to remind me that it ain’t mine.

  1. My dog shits in the sandpit from time to time. That old crone is still alive, she’s powerless to stop me now.

  2. Sweet, sweet victory.

I wonder how much it would cost for an “It Ain’t Yours” t-shirt at Cafe Press.

I’m too lazy to look atm.

  3. For Greg…

  4. Yeah, that’s the stuff! Back when Bono and The Edge still had their street cred. I wish I could go back to 1988 and force them to write like eight more albums. After ‘Achtung Baby’ things just started going downhill creatively.

  5. I think Zooropa was the last good U2 album. Lemon, Stay, and The Wanderer are excellent songs. Especially Lemon.

  6. That’s sort of weird timing. I was just listening to those tracks a few minutes ago.

just in case you don’t have this.

  8. Ooh, nice link. Thanks!

  9. Anyone get the Wired mag?

  10. Joe – While the Xenophant Pirates aren’t your best work, I like the use of color and perspective. Definitely breaking into new territories. Me like.

Christos – Wouldn’t the domain change amount to taking the “wordpress” out of my URL? I’m not sure that’s worth $1.19.

  11. I appreciate your critique. It was my least fav out of the series so I got it done first.

  12. It would take the wordpress out, but the more important thing would be that if you ever changed providers you’d still retain the same address, so you wouldn’t have to let anyone know that now you weren’t Caliprea, or Cyclopedia of the Eccarine or whatever the hell you decide to change into. You’d just route dreckfactory.com to whatever your new address is and everyone would be happy. All for the low, low price of $1.19/year. Plus if a new company wanted to produce a ‘dreckfactory’ they would probably want to buy that domain from you, and maybe you could make a buck.

  13. I’ll put it in my “DEFINITE MAYBE” box.
